Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Chairman Tarique Rahman has said that if he comes to power, he will work to solve various social problems including employment generation for the youth, agricultural and infrastructural development and rehabilitation of slum dwellers.
He made these promises at an election rally organized at Bhasanatek in the capital on Friday (January 23).
Speaking at the rally, Tarique Rahman said that dictatorship has fallen in the country through a long movement and struggle. Now is the time to build the country.
Various institutions of the country have been destroyed due to dictatorial rule. To reconstruct these institutions, representatives elected by the people are needed.
He said, when the election of I, You and Dummy was held, the common people could not go to the people's representatives with their problems. To establish democracy, people's representatives must be elected.
At the same time, accountability must be ensured.
Addressing the people present at the rally, Tarique Rahman said that he wants to hear about their problems from the people's mouths. He hopes that in the coming days, every public representative will go to the people, listen to them and work to solve their problems.
Highlighting his plan, the BNP chairman said that a special card will be introduced for farmers and BNP will work for the development of agriculture by providing loans on easy terms.
In addition, a skilled manpower will be developed by providing training and education to the youth, so that they can create employment in the country, work as skilled workers abroad or set up businesses on their own initiative.
Highlighting the issue of women's empowerment, he said that initiatives will be taken to create employment for women and introduce family cards for them. BNP will work to implement these programs if it comes to power. He also promised to take effective initiatives to improve the living standards of slum dwellers.
Calling for people to take the oath of 'I will do work, build the country - Bangladesh first', Tarique Rahman said that every time the symbol of the rice sheaf has been elected by the people, people's lives have improved.
To implement the plan, the rice sheaf must be made victorious across the country. For this, he urged everyone to vote for their relatives with a grain of rice.
BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman was present at the public meeting. His wife Dr. Zubayida Rahman was on stage with him.
In addition, BNP Standing Committee members Nazrul Islam Khan, Chairman's Advisor Abdus Salam, Farhad Halim Doner and Nazimuddin Alam were present. The party's organizational leadership includes Dhaka Metropolitan North BNP convener Aminul Haque and member secretary Mustafa Zaman.
The local leadership is led by Bhashantek Thana BNP convener Quader Mahmud. In addition, among the top leaders of the associate organizations, Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal President Abdul Monayem Munna and Jatiyatabadi Mohila Dal General Secretary Sultana Ahmed participated in the public meeting.
